Overfeel: Porsche Asia Pacific welcomes the electrifying new Taycan and unveils stunning one-off Taycan Turbo S ‘Celestial Jade’

Singapore. Porsche proudly introduces the new and extensively updated all-electric Taycan range to the Southeast Asian region with a thrilling launch event. The new Taycan receives the baton from its pioneering predecessor – the brand’s first all-electric sports sedan – with a suite of upgrades across all areas.

These upgrades mean the new Taycan improves vastly in terms of performance and driving dynamics, together with exceptional efficiency, luxury and comfort. To showcase these exciting qualities, Porsche Asia Pacific repurposed the Pasir Panjang Power Station in Singapore into an electrifying space, with a runway-style reveal arena, experiential zones showcasing product highlights.

With the additional Cross Turismo body type, a total of seven different variants of the new Taycan were unveiled in a dazzling show segment, highlighting the car’s increased performance, sharpened design, and undeniable Porsche soul. At the end of the show, a surprise unveiling of a one-off Porsche Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade stunned the entire audience, highlighting the near-limitless individualisation possibilities via the artisans and engineers at Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur’s Sonderwunsch programme, and paying homage to the vibrant Southeast Asian region.

"With the new Porsche Taycan, we are not just leaping forward in terms of performance and charging, we are also setting a new benchmark for all-electric sports sedans. We will create a one-of-a-kind experiences with unique privileges and events, making sure the Porsche ownership journey is unlike any other,” said Mr. Hannes Ruoff, CEO Porsche Asia Pacific at the launch.

"With this spectacular launch event, we cap off a year of remarkable milestones for Singapore, and with our first-ever Sonderwunsch one-off, the Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade. We mark our second World Premiere in Singapore this year, and pay tribute to this vibrant region in close collaboration with Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur." Mr. Ruoff continued.

Overfeel: the new Taycan
The new Taycan is available in two body variants in Singapore – the Taycan sports sedan and the adventure-ready Taycan Cross Turismo. The experts at Style Porsche have further honed the clean, purist design of the Taycan with new front- and rear-end styling and new headlights and taillights.

The new headlights feature high-resolution HD matrix technology and display the brand’s characteristic four-point graphics at night. The Porsche logo in the rear light strip also features a new three-dimensional, glass-look design, and for the first time, owners can choose an optional illuminated version featuring welcome/leaving animations.

Even higher performance
The new electric motor on the rear axle of the Taycan generates 80 kW more power than the predecessor, but weighs 10.4 kg lighter for even higher performance. As a result, all new Taycan models accelerate much faster than their predecessors: for example, the Taycan accelerates from 0-100km/h in just 4.8 seconds – 0.6 seconds faster than its predecessor. The top of the range Taycan Turbo S takes just 2.4 seconds to complete the same sprint, 0.4 seconds faster than the previous version.

Selected Taycan models also feature a new ‘Push-to-Pass’ function in the Sport Chrono package, a feature that generates a temporary a boost of up to 70 kW, depending on the model. The ‘Push-to-Pass’ function can be called upon for 10 seconds at the touch of a button, adding a fun factor to the overall Taycan driving experience while also enabling lightning-quick overtakes on city streets and highways.

More than 35 per cent more range compared to the predecessor
Performance Battery Plus variants of the new Taycan feature a larger battery with a gross energy content of 105 kWh, increased from 93 kWh, and the maximum recuperation capacity during deceleration from high speeds has increased from 290 to up to 400 kW.

The standard battery on the Taycan RWD (89 kWh gross battery content) is capable of 566 kilometres (WLTP) – a higher range than the predecessor with the large battery pack. With the larger battery pack, the range of the new Taycan goes up to 678 kilometres, an increase of 35 per cent. In short – the Taycan can now travel from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore and back on a single charge.

The updated Taycan not only requires fewer charging stops on long trips than its predecessor, but it also recharges faster: at DC charging stations, for example, it can be charged at up to 320 kW. In addition, peak charging performance is possible on a wider operating temperature scale; this means that amongst other variables, faster charging is possible across a longer time and across a wider range of conditions, and the time required to go from a 10 to an 80 per cent charge is just 18 minutes despite its larger battery capacity.

New equipment, less weight
All updated Taycan models come with adaptive air suspension as standard. The new Porsche Active Ride suspension can be ordered as an option for the all-wheel drive versions, offering an unprecedented bandwidth between luxurious driving comfort and dynamic situations.

Standard interior equipment is also more extensive than before across the Taycan range: Porsche Intelligent Range Manager (PIRM), 14-way adjustable seats, Drive Mode switch and Power Steering Plus, Ambient lighting, ParkAssist including Surround View with Active Parking Support, Four-zone Climate Control, a BOSE Surround Sound system and 20-inch wheels are all now standard features.

Inspired by the precious gemstone: Celestial Jade
During the regional launch of the Taycan range in Singapore, a stunning one-off Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade was also unveiled for the first time, created through the Sonderwunsch programme. Together with the Porsche Asia Pacific team, the designers and paint experts at Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur sought to reflect the vibrance and innovation of the Southeast Asia in their own craftsmanship, paying tribute to this important region with bespoke touches and mythical symbols.

“A vibrant region like Southeast Asia deserves nothing less than our most ambitious Taycan project yet,” said Mr. Alexander Fabig, Vice President Individualisation and Classic at Porsche AG. “That is why the Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade features many Porsche world-firsts, alongside colours and unique motifs that celebrate Asian culture. We want to thank the colleagues at Porsche Asia Pacific for challenging us with this marvellous creation – a project that will go down in history as one of the most unique creations from our studio of dreams.”

World-first: A ChromaFlair ‘blend’
For the first time ever, in the Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade, Porsche has blended two Chromaflair effect paints. The preparation and implementation phases for this were both very elaborate, with development taking around a year. The paintwork itself was done exclusively by hand and took around 80 work hours.

Chromaflair pigments contain extremely thin “flakes” that appear to shift in colour depending on how you look at them. These flakes consist of an opaque, reflective core layer of aluminium, which is then surrounded by a glass-like layer. This transparent layer looks different colours depending on the thickness. All together the flakes are only 1 µm thick. By comparison, human hair is 50 times thicker than this. This gradient paint isn’t just found on the body of the Sonderwunsch Taycan: the rear model designation, the “Electric” logo on the side and the key fob cover also have this impressive finish.

“Urban Bamboo”, a bright green with yellow and gold tones, and “Shifting Carbon”, a dark grey with black and blue tones, were chosen as the colour combination. It culminates in the transcendent name of the vehicle: Celestial Jade. Especially in Asia, jade is a noble and precious material that is rich in tradition and associated with happiness and longevity. Carbon, by contrast, symbolises the pioneering spirit of Porsche. This innovative and powerful colour is often seen in the world of motor racing. The material is robust, light and durable.

Bespoke logo and special carbon-weave finish components
In addition to the spectacular Chromaflair exterior paintwork, the one-off car features a specially designed ‘LongMa’ logo in several places, paying homage to Asian culture.

The legendary ‘LongMa’ is a being with a dragon’s head (‘long’) and the body of a horse (‘ma’). It is a symbol of power, strength and auspiciousness, made all the more meaningful as it coincides with the Year of the Dragon in 2024, and the Taycan, derived from two Turkish words meaning 'soul of a spirited young horse'. The logo can be seen on the sill guards of the front and rear doors, on the door projector and all headrests.

Another highlight, designed to match the Chromaflair paintwork, is the carbon-weave finish components in varnished Carbon. These replace the standard Turbonite-coloured inlays on the front bumper, on the side skirts and on the rear diffuser. The airblades on the wheels are also made from this special, hand-crafted material. The varnish allows the carbon-fibre compound to shine through. Depending on the angle you look at it from, the surface shimmers in different hues.

“Leather to Sample” now also available for the Taycan
In addition to the ten leather and 15 seam colours that Porsche offers as standard for the Taycan, “Leather to Sample” is now also available for the Taycan via the Sonderwunsch programme.

This further customisation option celebrates its premiere with the Taycan Turbo S ‘Celestial Jade’. The interior specialists from the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur have combined the standard colour Slategrey with the “Leather to Sample” option Englishgreen. This elegant, dark green can be found in the doors, the centre console and the front and rear seats. In addition to Englishgreen, the “Leather to Sample” programme includes around 150 colours.

For especially individual requests, Porsche goes a step further: with “Leather to Sample Plus”, the colour can be chosen almost entirely freely. Inquiries can be made through the Porsche Centres, and the experts at Porsche AG will then check the feasibility.
